Westside Justice Center (WJC) partners with communities to eradicate injustice and disrupt oppressive regimes, by equipping, organizing and repowering people, thus providing sustainable gateways and access to opportunities for people to live better lives.
WJC envisions communities where systems of justice are created for and by the people which are restorative, fair and equitable. We do so by amplifying community voices and expertise; and celebrating the culture, knowledge and power of its members.

Through the Illinois Access to Justice Network, we expand access to free and low-cost legal support across
We work directly within the community through outreach events, legal clinics, and Know Your Rights education. Our team collaborates with local partners, courts, and service organizations to connect people with timely legal assistance and support.
By combining direct services, education, and community partnerships, we remove barriers and help residents navigate the legal system with confidence.
For nearly a decade, we have worked to expand access to justice through community partnership, education, and legal advocacy.
2015
A group of attorneys, community leaders, and legal advocates came together to establish the Westside Justice Center (WJC). Their aim was to provide holistic, community-centered legal support to underserved neighborhoods on Chicago's West Side.
2017
Within two years, WJC expanded beyond direct legal aid by launching community workshops focused on renters' rights, housing eviction issues, criminal record relief, property tax relief, and re-entry support — helping community members better understand and navigate legal systems.
2018
WJC strengthened its impact through participation in the Illinois Access to Justice Network, a statewide program administered by WJC and The Resurrection Project (TRP), connecting community members to trusted legal information, job opportunities, and justice resources across Illinois.
2025
WJC continued to grow its practice areas to meet evolving community needs, including immigration legal support, criminal record relief, eviction defense, small estate planning, and juvenile justice advocacy — responding to ongoing housing, justice, and social instability.
Our team brings compassion and expertise to advancing justice. Together, we expand access to legal support and opportunity.
