Illinois Access to Justice Program Officer
The Westside Justice Center is a community-centered organization that promotes a holistic approach to justice by: 1) Facilitating legal literacy to reduce recidivism; 2) Providing legal and quasi- legal assistance to individuals; and 3) Establishing and nurturing community trust through participatory deliberations and restorative justice practices, to collaboratively mitigate the consequences of incarceration on criminalized communities.
This is a full time position, supporting grant administration. This position will help with maintaining systems, processing personnel information and state vouchering.
Reports to: ILA2J Program Manager
Assists with contract administration, including program work plans, financial and budget requirements, and assisting with the Request for Proposals (RFP’s) as needed.
Supports the selection process:
Participates in the selection and review process;
Collaborates with the Program Officer to recruit, train and coordinate the work of ILA2J external review committee.
Monitoring and evaluation:
Maintains and updates all relevant data for use in tracking, analyzing, including data collection, input, and reporting;
Collaborates with the Program Manager and Officer to conduct site-visits to evaluate and support partner performance, identify weaknesses and strengths, assists with outreach plans, provides technical assistance and training;
Reviews subgrantees’ program reports for accuracy and completeness;
Collaborates with the Program Officer on gathering data and information needed for the evaluation process.
Gathers and distributes resources for and from subgrantees on a weekly basis;
Curates and maintains resource manuals and documentation for subrecipients;
Conducts site visits to provide hands on support and be a liaison for Westside Justice Center.
Participates in the design, implementation, refinement and adaptation of grantmaking strategies and in planning future program strategies;
Assists in the design of new initiatives;
Identifies and works with prospective grantees to develop programs that advance grantmaking strategies;
Manages ILA2J online platforms.
Prepares periodic reports for internal and external purposes
Builds and sustains relationships with colleagues with leaders, actors and organizations in relevant fields, including the public and commercial sectors
Performs other duties as assigned
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in nonprofit management, operations, or development and fundraising, including experience working with community based organizations;
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience;
Transparent and high integrity leadership;
Ability to work independently and take initiative on areas of responsibility and successful implementer.
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation;
Experience with database management.
Experience in training and community outreach preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, public speaking and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Access and Excel.
